Pop artist Scarlett Sno shares her latest single called “Terrified“, which is available on all the digital stores.

BEHIND THE SCENES, LET’S KNOW MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Scarlett is a pop artist and songwriter based in Nashville, TN. Born and raised in Kansas City, MO, Scarlett has always been fascinated with storytelling, fantasy, and the human condition – ideas that have heavily resonated throughout her music. From a young age, she would tell stories through songwriting, composition, and would experiment on DAW software and various musical instruments. Scarlett is known for co-producing her music and writing lyrics from her experiences. She often refers to her discography as the “diary of her life”. Scarlett is always experimenting with genre mashing. Her official debut on October 27, 2020 and first few pop singles had elements of Hip-Hop, Rap, and Dubstep; but as she has grown, her music has found roots in genre mashing pop with rock and cinematic music. In her new single, “Terrified”, Scarlett explores this genre mashing by telling the story of her mental state from when she lost her voice for a year and had to go through vocal rehabilitation. “Terrified” is the gateway single into a new chapter of her dark fantasy world. She describes her overall discography as “music for the human condition” – the exploration of the complexities of human emotions and experiences of love, loss, mental health, happiness, courage, etc. Scarlett is heavily inspired by legendary artists such as Evanescence, Lady Gaga, Panic! At The Disco, and K-pop groups B.A.P and ATEEZ. Notably, in 2017, she made it to the final rounds of Usher’s first annual Megastar competition.

Scarlett Sno releases her fourth single “Terrified” as an introduction into her new dark fantasy world after a two year hiatus. In this new era, Scarlett has merged elements from pop, rock, and cinematic into her own unique style, constantly keeping her audience wanting more. The conceptual song opens with a minimalistic ticking clock, eerie echoes, and vocals representing anxious loneliness as Scarlett attempts to comfort her worries and self doubts. As the story progresses, the music grows bigger and bolder as the confidence to face her fears becomes stronger. A psychedelic guitar resonates through the chorus giving the synths and symphonic strings flight against the emotional soaring vocals. Scarlett turns the idea of chasing your dreams on its head. “Terrified” brings the listener along on an intimate emotional journey playing with the idea that you can want your dreams and ambitions so desperately it feels like they are chasing you.

“Terrified” is a song born from pain, anxiety, and a fear of the unknown. Scarlett was forced to take a two year hiatus from her career due to developing muscle tension dysphonia – a result from catching COVID-19 in 2022. Over the course of a year, Scarlett’s condition made it increasingly painful for her to speak or sing. During this strenuous time, she went to vocal therapy in hopes of rehabilitating her vocal chords. Through recovery she struggled with the fear of never being able to sing or speak again, the anxiety of not knowing what would happen to her career, and what she was willing to sacrifice to make her dreams come true. Near the end of recovery, Scarlett was invited to perform for a Mental Health Songwriters Night in Nashville, TN. A few weeks before the event, Scarlett was woken up from a dead sleep by a melody surrounding the phrases “I’m terrified it won’t all work out”. The melody and words continued to haunt her until the song came into fruition just in time to tell her story and perform it at the Mental Health Songwriters Night. This song summarizes everything she was feeling during that year of turmoil. Scarlett’s hope is that this song can lead others out of the darkness just as this haunting melody did for her.
