Elisa Jo reinvents herself and becomes josie, more freedom and more independence, a new musicality infused with pop, neo-soul, R&B sounds, and groovy arrangements.
We are pleased to present her track “Keep On,” taken from the EP Urge & Desire, available on all digital stores.

BEHIND THE SCENES, LET’S KNOW MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: After two albums released with Universal under the name Elisa Jo, Josie embarks on a decisive turning point by launching an independent project. A name change as a founding gesture, affirming a new creative freedom where pop, soul, and R&B meet within an intimate, sensual, and vibrant universe.
Balancing between poetry and raw words, Josie tells stories and questions the intensity of desire, romantic impulses, and the search for self-love. A world both wild and gentle, which she herself describes as “a voluptuous animality, a caress that comes to bite your neck,” sincerely exploring inner journeys that are at times troubled and at others filled with hope.Josie led a musical project for nearly 10 years under the name Elisa Jo, allowing her to gain solid experience in the studio, on stage, and in TV and web promotion. Her first EP, Back Around, and her debut album, Colours in My Mind, both produced by Benjamin Biolay, were released in 2012 and 2013 respectively on Fontana/Mercury (Universal France). Between 2011 and 2014, she toured extensively as both a headliner and an opening act (Melody Gardot, Yaël Naïm, Asaf Avidan, Cœur de Pirate, Selah Sue, Puggy, Alela Diane…), performing in numerous venues and festivals in Paris and across France, as well as in Switzerland and Belgium. She appeared for the first time on Taratata in 2012 to present “Back Around,” returned in 2013 alongside Gérald de Palmas, and again in 2014 with Puggy for the show’s 20th anniversary. In 2020, she released her second album, Kicks, on Blue Note/Decca Records (Universal France), a vibrant (or irreverent) tribute to jazz standards. That same year, she introduced her new project. Elisa Jo’s audience, won over by this new aesthetic—more authentic and closer to the artist—rallied once again behind Josie.

Her debut EP, Urge & Desire, scheduled for release on January 16, 2026, unfolds across six tracks connected by finely crafted, immersive transitions, tracing a nocturnal journey between dream and reality. At the crossroads of indie pop, neo-soul, and R&B, the EP is driven by deep grooves, warm bass lines, and meticulously designed vocal textures.
Josie’s jazz and soul background is evident in her precise harmonic work, where her voice layers and modulates with finesse, reminiscent of singer Raye. The groove, firmly rooted in the dialogue between bass and drums, structures the whole and carries a range of emotions—from floating introspection to carnal exhilaration. The care given to sound and the choice of shimmering instruments create a luminous, vivid, and sensory universe.
Through this debut EP, Josie asserts a bold artistic direction, driven by the stance of a free and self-assured female artist, in the lineage of personalities such as Kali Uchis and KIRBY. Urge & Desire reveals Josie as an essential voice of the new generation, laying the foundations for a strong and immediately recognizable artistic identity.
