London-based artist Ivelisse del Carmen shares her latest single “Before I’m Done“, which is available now on all digital stores.

BEHIND THE SCENES, LET’S KNOW MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Ivelisse del Carmen is an independent, multidisciplinary artist blending traditional Puerto Rican and Latin American influences with modern pop and dance, creating a genre-fluid sound rooted in culture but forward-facing. Her latest single, Before I’m Done, is a high-energy pop release with a deeply personal core written as a letter to herself confronting burnout, the fear of pushing too far, and the process of rebuilding with self-awareness and care.

Written after a long absence from songwriting and performing, Before I’m Done emerged during a period of emotional conflict for Ivelisse. Reconnecting with music brought both excitement and uncertainty, reopening old fears about losing herself in the process once again. That emotional duality became the foundation of the track—a reflection on the tension between passion and self-preservation.

The song takes subtle inspiration from John Everett Millais’ painting Ophelia, particularly the contrast between stillness and movement—the calm figure suspended while the world around her continues to flow. Rather than referencing the artwork directly, Ivelisse draws from its emotional atmosphere, translating that sense of quiet unraveling into music. Through imagery of fading light, shifting colours, and painterly textures, the lyrics portray an inner world caught between vulnerability and transformation.

At its heart, Before I’m Done is a song about resilience. It speaks to the determination to continue creating, even when doubt remains present. There is a softness and fragility woven throughout the track, but beneath it lies a quiet strength—one that reflects Ivelisse’s evolving ability to confront difficult emotions without being consumed by them.

The release follows a prolific series of 2025 singles, including An Ocean in Between, Las Mariposas, Sin Filtro, Mi Sangre Baila, and Illusion, while also continuing the wider artistic narrative she explores through her Substack platform Letters in Melody.
