Jaz returns from hiatus with his new single “YKTV”, which is available now on all the digital stores.

BEHIND THE SCENES, LET’S KNOW MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Hailing from the vibrant neighborhood of Far Rockaway, Queens, Jaz Vernon’s R&B compositions offer a free-flowing and mesmerizing experience. His musical journey began at an early age, honing his skills as a pianist and later exploring the trumpet and drums. Now, Jaz seamlessly blends the soulful essence of 90’s R&B with contemporary elements, driven by an authentic desire to make his mark among the industry greats. Having collaborated with his in-house producer Gamal , since 2015, they have developed such a sound and process in Jaz that reflects in his upcoming project. His feature on Hot97’s DJ Saige’s debut single “Hit My Line” in July 2019 garnered him well-deserved attention in New York from both industry and non-industry listeners alike. The R&B aesthete has a defiantly future-fixated streak, melding together gospel aspects in his vocals with a penchant for groundbreaking production. Worth placing alongside the likes of Brent Faiyaz and Bryson Tiller, Since then, he’s doubled down, working with alacrity to expand his R&B vision.

The release “YKTV” arrives without the usual fanfare. There’s no oversized campaign, no grand narrative about reinvention or artistic transformation. Instead, “YKTV” quietly makes its entrance, offering a fresh chapter from an artist who has carefully chosen the moment and the sound with which to reintroduce himself.
Built around an understated charm, the track unfolds with the intimacy of a late-night exchange—easygoing, comforting, and effortlessly natural. A crisp guitar figure runs through the song from start to finish, bright yet understated, acting as a melodic anchor that gives the arrangement a reflective sense of flow. Around it, the rhythm section settles into a smooth, restrained groove, while Vernon delivers his vocals with a relaxed confidence that feels personal and unforced.
One of the song’s most effective details lies in its vocal production. Delicate delay effects allow selected lines to drift into the background, creating soft echoes that blur the line between lead vocal and atmosphere. As the chorus opens up, gentle layers of harmonies emerge, enriching the emotional palette without distracting from the song’s simplicity. Throughout it all, the recurring guitar motif remains at the center, providing stability while the vocals and textures subtly expand the track’s warm, immersive mood.
